When symptoms occur, a fast and focused effort in the patient’s own home can often prevent acute hospitalisation, especially in cases of infections in the lungs or urinary system and dehydration in elderly patients. In situations like these, quickly starting up IV treatment with antibiotics and fluids can prevent the situation to from developing into a critical course often with prolonged hospitalisation as a consequence.
The Private Doctors' Hospital At Home offers:
- Personal contact doctor and/or contact nurse who will coordinate the efforts around the patient and monitor the development in the patient’s condition
- Dispensation of IV medicine and fluids as well as overall assistance with medication
- Optimization of general health condition through dietary advice, assistance with ingestion and physical exercise - with young as well as with elderly patients
- Assistance with personal hygiene, e.g. bathing, and shopping if necessary
Commencing a course of Hospital At Home treatment will always depend on a specific and individual medical assessment. Commencement of a course of treatment is therefore always preceded by a consultation and an examination plus an extended blood sample analysis, whereupon The Private Doctor evaluates whether the criteria for treatment are met. If the patient is not suited for a Hospital At Home treatment, The Private Doctor will arrange for traditional hospital admission.
